Independence Day

The fourth of July is approaching and that day is a date that is special to Americans. It represents the culmination of our struggle to free ourselves from the tyranny of monarchy and to establish individual liberties for our citizens. Under the monarchy, a citizen only had the rights that the King deigned to grant him and what was given could also be taken away at will on a whim. Never the less, our founders sought to bring about a peaceful and equitable solution for both the citizen and the King. Men like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Hamilton sought only representation in the British Parliament for the taxes that were being assessed to pay for the French and Indian War. The King rebuffed our advances and the rest is history.

But what does it mean to be independent? Webster defines independence as not being controlled by others, self governing, and not requiring or relying on others. The common thread throughout these definitions is relying on oneself. Reliance upon the self is ultimately why the Revolutionary War was fought and it is why the individual citizen is sovereign. In order to establish a government the citizen loaned his individual sovereignty to the government in order to allow it to act on his behalf thereby creating a representative Republic that would protect his individual freedoms from outside interference. That government was the Federal government. His daily life would be regulated by a State government that would be closer to the will of the people and therefore more responsive to them.

Today, we are again faced with taxation without representation. Our elected representatives no longer listen to us. We saw that when they ignored our will at the now infamous town halls on Obamacare. Others cancelled their town halls in order to silence the will of those they claim to represent. Still others mocked us for our concerns and called us corporate shills who have been paid to have a political opinion and that is why we should be ignored. Despite many attempts to communicate with my elected officials all that I received in response was boilerplate laced with phrases designed to soothe my mind. Rather than having the effect of administering a soporific, these missives only heightened my alarm and confirmed my suspicions that a citizen’s concerns counted for nothing to the Federal legislature.

As such, we no longer have representatives in the Congress, but Lords and Ladies who are now the new aristocracy and we are their serfs. Those who follow Marx and his socialist policies are ecstatic, but this also means that those who respect and honor freedom are in trouble. Progressivism=Marxism, and make no mistake that there is a Marxist in the Oval Office. In fact, there are Marxists and Maoists at the highest levels of government and they despise liberty and the individual and that brings about a significant question: why are they there?

Put simply, they are there because we put them there. I firmly believe that a people get the government that they deserve and we certainly deserved the ones that we have in office now. When you get angry about the bonds of financial slavery being forged for your children and grandchildren, remember that it was you that cast a ballot for this. When you become furious that our economy is being torn asunder and that the greatest engine for the creation of wealth is being dismantled and that our way of life is going the same way, remember that you cast your ballot for this. When you feel rage at the slow ebb of your freedom draining away your liberty, remember that it was you that cast the ballot for it. We did this to ourselves.

That is the ugly truth behind today’s events. We inflicted our own wounds. This happened because we trusted the media when we should have doubted them and their intentions. The mainstream media no longer serves the public, but answers to a political master now. The familiar faces on the news are all the lapdogs of the left. Like the Wizard of Oz, the veil has been lifted and their treachery has been exposed with the exception of Fox News. They wield their influence as a weapon and use the news to shape and form your opinions in accordance to their master’s wishes. What do they get out of this arrangement? They get access to the elite, to rub shoulders with the rich and powerful and the prestige that brings. Is it any wonder that Chris Mathews said that it was his job to make sure that President Obama succeeded? He can only do that if he carries water for the President and damns the facts.

And then there is the money. For years we have said that Washington is out of touch. I submit that it is not out of touch because it no longer works for us. Of course, I speak of corruption and perversion. When influence is peddled in Washington, favors follow. Why do you suppose that Barney Frank found nothing wrong before our economy nearly collapsed? He headed the committee that investigated the doings at Fannie Mae when Franklin Raines was double dipping and he declared their operations sound. He also received bushels of cash from Fannie Mae as did other Democrats on the committee who also found nothing to be alarmed about. Coincidence? Perhaps, but coincidence seems to follow Mr. Frank as does scandal.

Perhaps Mr. Frank is like Senator Dodd. Senator Dodd received one hell of a deal on a mortgage. Do you honestly believe that he got that deal out of the goodness of the lender’s heart or was it for a favor that we don’t know about? Who else is selling out the public to line their own pockets at our expense? How else has the public been damaged by corrupt politicians? Since they investigate their own and since they all know where each other’s bodies are buried, I would think that an independent counsel would be best way to investigate the corruption in Washington, but that will never happen as long as the aristocracy rules.

You see, the politicians keep you entertained while they do their business behind closed doors. The Romans did the same thing with gladiatorial games and circuses. So long as they kept the public occupied, they could do whatever they pleased just as Washington is doing right now. Hence the boilerplate sent to concerned citizens to allay their fears despite the open mockery of the United States Constitution by those who swore to defend it.

That politicians in Washington do not honor their oaths of office should surprise no one considering that they have no honor or integrity themselves. Why do you suppose that they keep multiple sets of books? If you or I did that we would be imprisoned. Yet the government can get away with it in order to lie to the American people. This is why they tell you that something will only cost one million dollars and when it is all said and done the price goes to one hundred million dollars and you know nothing about it. This is why having multiple sets of books is so fun. If anyone gets curious you can always pull out a doctored ledger to prove that you are on the up and up as a dutiful politician. We plebeians however, are not entitled to such perks. That is for the neoaristocracy alone.

Thus do we now know why the Federal government has lost its mind, it is because we allowed it to happen. We carelessly cast our ballot because we were enamored of flowery speech and team spirit for parties labled Democrat and Republican, but these things do little to protect that which should be most important to us: our freedom and our independence. With independence comes responsibility because the two are inseparable. In order to be independent you must take responsibility for yourself. Each citizen has a responsibility to feed yourself, to clothe yourself, to obtain a roof over your head, to provide for your family, and to obtain medical care when needed.

This is why medical care, food, housing, clothing, and even personal defense are not rights. If they were “rights,” then you would be relieved of the responsibility and if you are not responsible then you are not independent and therefore you are not free. It is because we have faith in God and the nobility of our own nature that we feed the hungry, provide medical care to the sick, clothe the cold, provide shelter from the elements, and defend the helpless. We do this because we will not stand idle as people suffer, but those we assist are not truly free because they rely upon us to ease their burdens and we should therefore not make them comfortable in their needs.

In order for man to be independent he must have pride in himself and confidence in his abilities. Yet, we do all that we can as a society to rob our children of both. We teach boys to be girls by feminizing them. We teach them that there are no losers and that is why everybody gets a reward. We teach them that they cannot accomplish anything by themselves and that is why they need an all powerful government. In short, our society cripples them so that they cannot be free men and women. As adults entering the workforce they have no ambition. They do not believe in the value of a system of morality and they have no respect for Deity or themselves. Who have we become?

That we are the lesser children of greater sires is quickly becoming evident. For the past forty years we have heeded the siren call of the collective urging us to lay down our burdens so that we may become yet another cog in a faceless and soulless machine. A machine that will crush the individual under its weight and use their blood for its lubricant and the name of this machine is the collective. This is why everywhere that Marxism has dominated it has created re-education camps and death squads and the United States of America will not be exempt should it occur here.

The fourth of July is a day to have barbecues, to see fireworks, and it is a chance to spend time with our family and friends, but it is also a reminder that freedom comes with a responsibility to protect and preserve our independence lest we lose it. Many thousands bled and died for your chance to be free and they also bequeathed to you the responsibility that comes with it. Who would we be if we allowed that freedom to be lost because we would not own up to its concomitant responsibility?

Repairing the Republic

Our Republic is suffering from incompetence, corruption, greed, and tyranny. In order for a representative Republic to function as it was intended, the people of that Republic must be willing to accept responsibility for their fellow citizens and community. What that means is that the elected officials, appointed judiciary, government workers, and the electorate must place their own individual concerns after those of their fellows and the nation. This is what our founders did when they placed their sacred honor, lives, and fortunes on the line in order to create something extraordinary: man’s first true freedom on Earth.

Yet now, due to the weakness of man, it is threatened. A man cannot be faulted for being weak as this is how his Creator has chosen to make him, but such weakness is a detriment to a free society as the weak will always seek to shore up their position with the strength of their betters. They do this by seeking free healthcare, the wealth of those who worked harder or were more fortunate than themselves, free housing, and free food from the government. In short, they seek to become dependants to a greater who will provide for and protect them. Worse, they couch their desires as rights.

Ask anyone who advocates for free healthcare for all if such a thing is a right of man, and likely they will affirm that it is indeed such. The truth that healthcare is a commodity makes no difference to them. They merely attach the label of human suffering and a right is created out of thin air. But by creating such “rights” they slap the Almighty in the face by displacing Him with government. By such reasoning man is not endowed by his Creator with certain inalienable rights, but only fortunate that he was born in a nation where such rights were granted him by the whim of government and any man with a modicum of common sense will be able to discern that such rights are easily taken away. Yet this seems to make no difference to those who would separate man from his God.

Such appeals sway others of their kind who band together and seek to achieve their aim, but such people care little for honor and personal integrity. This is why the dead cast ballots, terms are focus grouped for acceptance, activists lie through their teeth to the electorate, and an accusatory finger is pointed at those who pay the majority of taxes and create employment. These same people will cruise through neighborhoods collecting the old and infirm and provide them with company and a free lunch in exchange for their vote and they also insure that they are told who and what to vote for to insure their objectives are met. Weak is not a synonym of stupid, but similar to stupid, one cannot fix “weak” unless the will is strong. How then do we repair the Republic?

We repair the damage by reforming citizenship. When the founders created the American government, they gave suffrage to landowners. This makes sense because a landowner has a stake in the community and an interest in seeking what is good for the health of his community. As time progressed, franchise was expanded and weakened. The voting age dropped and there are even calls for the vote to be granted to illegals residing in the United States. As long as one speaks only of weakening and expanding the franchise, there is no criticism of the ideas save by conservatives who seek to preserve their way of life. I propose the exact opposite.

I believe that citizenship must be earned and not simply granted as a matter of birth as an afterthought. I say this because I believe citizenship to be a privilege and not a right. The fact that the founding fathers did not grant the vote to each and every citizen leads me to believe that they shared this view. This is because something given has no value. For example, if you were awarded the Olympic Gold Medal for Judo would it really mean anything to you? Of course not, because you did not earn it through training, practice, and competition. The medal is merely a dust collector, but it is precious to one who has earned it. In such a context one can truly appreciate the words of Thomas Paine when he said, “That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly.”

We license drivers and professionals to insure public safety, but we allow nearly everyone to have a say in making policy that will impact us all for better or for worse. Foreigners come into the county and stay separate from American society and would make policy that suits them and the American culture be damned. The weak seek advantage at the expense of those who are more talented or wealthy while youth only knows passion and has not yet learned wisdom. This is how America became twisted with the election of President Obama and the would be aristocracy in the Congress. As far as the mechanics of such a system, I recommend the model Robert Heinlein presented in his novel, Starship Troopers. This is because I strongly believe that the rights of all people must be preserved.

It is from these people that new citizens will emerge and they must understand what they are to preserve and defend. Therefore, it is critical that the only difference between a citizen and any other person is the right to vote and to hold office. A citizen has no other rights or privileges and receives no other benefits. Those who would rather just lead their life without worrying about politics are free to do so and if they should have a concern they are free to speak their mind to their representative or to peacefully demonstrate for a cause.

The second change I would advocate is for term limits for all politicians. Politics was never intended to be a full time position. The founders believed that an elective office would best be filled on a part-time basis and that the citizen would return to the private sector. With Congressmen and Senators remaining in Washington D.C. for decades and figuring out how to circumvent our Constitutional protections, such a practice is detrimental to good government and endangers our freedoms. There is an old business maxim that states that one should never keep an accountant for more than five years because the accountant will know the business better than the owner and is likely to rob him blind. I believe that this maxim should also be expanded to include politicians.

Politicians by their very nature only look to winning the next election. As such, they care not for the long term effects of their policies and are quick to exclude themselves from any potentially troubling legislation. For example, Congress has exempted themselves from the EEOC laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act. While both of these laws had forced widespread changes in the private sector, this is not the case for Congress. This was done so that if a Congressman has wandering hands or does not wish to deal with the handicapped, no worries and there isn’t anything that can be done about it.

Winning elections is also why politicians push ridiculous policies such as rent control. The net effect of rent control prevents the poor from living in an area. The few who were there first get a good deal and everyone else gets shafted and rent rises so much in new construction and in vacated apartments that the poor are excluded. Unfortunately, the effect of rent control occurs some years after the policy was imposed and the politicians skated on taking the rap for their actions. Term limits would insure that any such politician would not fall through the cracks.

Either proposal would go a long way toward preserving our Republic or if both were adopted we could cement our way of life for another couple of centuries against the proclivities of the weak to destroy the freedoms that they now enjoy in favor of security.

The Rebirth of Eugenics

Rising from its own ashes like a phoenix, eugenics has made a comeback in the world. Barbara Harris of Project Prevention is providing cash incentives for drug addicted mothers to be sterilized or placed on long term birth control. Ms. Harris is currently in the U.K. administering the program and claims to have already sterilized 3500 women in the United States. While Ms. Harris says that she is doing this so that the unborn children will not be fed narcotics or alcohol for nine months, her program is eerily similar to what Adolf Hitler initiated with the Hadamar clinic when the deaf, mentally ill, and other “undesirables” were taken care of by the Nazis.

While Ms. Harris’ program falls far short of social Darwinism, it is certainly a step in that direction. At the turn of the 20th century, people like H.G. Wells and Margaret Sanger believed fervently in eugenics because it was a way to get rid of the people that they didn’t like or believed should not have been born in the first place. When Charles Darwin floated his theory of evolution, it was a gift to these people because they now had a pretext to move upon their own prejudices. In fact, the Americans and British were moving along so well that Adolf Hitler was jealous and he determined that he would one up them all and did so with his final solution for the Jews.

Today, Ms. Sanger’s Negro Project is still removing future “useless eaters” at Planned Parenthood through abortion and now Ms. Harris has joined in with the sterilization of alcoholics and drug addicts and it is that which is so dangerous. As the pieces begin to fall into place, a dark and evil picture begins to be unveiled. One which has not been seen in over sixty years as man begins his long, slow slide to the re-birth of a despicable concept. How did it come to this?

The constant whittling away of morality, religion, and culture combined with a love affair of murdering children in the womb have all contrived to place humanity once again on bloody ground. The problem with man is not that he is stupid, but that he is lazy. He will stubbornly attempt to walk the same ground that he made his past mistakes upon so that he can re-make them. That is the lesson of history and it is why history is so often repeated.

This is why these people must be fought. We have all been witness to the murderous intent of eugenics and seen the destruction that such thinking has made. If good men and women stand by and do nothing to oppose these people, then the blood is also on our own hands. When evil is recognized it must be opposed and by offering monetary incentives to sterilize women, regardless of the reason, that is certainly a shadow of an evil that we know well for it is not far from this to Arbeit Macht Frei.

Helen Thomas Tells the Truth, Then Recants

Fox News Reported:

(Helen) Thomas, a longtime White House correspondent who now writes a column for Hearst newspapers, made the comments May 27 after a White House Jewish heritage event.

Asked by Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com if she had “any comments on Israel,” Thomas replied, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”

Thomas went on to say that the Palestinian people “are occupied and it’s their land” and that Israelis should “go home” -- to Poland, Germany, America “and everywhere else.”

In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

Despite Thomas’ contrived apology, I don’t buy it. The words she spoke to Rabbi Nesenhoff were her true feeling, but she lacks the courage to stand by them as does all the left. Perhaps it is appropriate for her to be working for Hearst News as the company’s founder was famous Nazi sympathizer Randolph Hearst who shilled for Adolf Hitler in the United States according to Karl von Weigand who spoke to Ambassador Dodd in 1935. Shared ideologies perhaps? Regardless, Helen Thomas’ comments are part of a trend of a spreading poison that once provided fertile ground for World War II and the final solution.

It is well known that the Muslim Brotherhood is the ideological descendent of the Nazi SS and in fact, they still use Nazi propaganda to this day regarding the Jews. Never mind the fact that the connection between the SS and Islam was strong enough to bring about Muslim involvement in the Odessa program used to spirit away notable Nazis like Doctor Josef Mengele and Adolf Eichmann. In fact, there were many Nazi SS units comprised entirely of Muslims who aided and abetted in the Holocaust and they have never been called to answer for their crimes. The children of these corrupted and morally lacking men were raised in institutionalized hatred and instilled with a burning desire to destroy Judaism, but Helen Thomas and the left consistently take their side. Why?

There can be no other explanation, but that they agree with their assessment of the Jews. That is why they call for the destruction of Israel and that is why they support terrorists. The support of the left is not tied to justice, nor fairness, or for any humanitarian reason, but to the fascist ideology of the Muslim because it is there that they see the one thing that draws them: power. Power over people, thought, creativity, and morality is ultimately the goal of the left. They do this through little pushes or nudges of the public toward that goal while they conceal their true intent behind sweetened words and feigned concern.

Ultimately, the fools of the left believe that they can control the Muslims and use them as a tool to achieve their purpose. This is what drove the progressives toward the Soviets at the turn of the 20th century, but instead of controlling communism it turned out that they were the useful idiots for a hostile regime and Islam will also destroy them if and when it assumes power because nobody with a modicum of common sense trusts a traitor and Islam is no fool and they will pursue them mercilessly with the objective of butchering them as was the Soviet plan.

Despite this, the rise of anti-Semitism throughout the world is greatly troubling. It means that the leftist ideal is dominant and that is why Islam is spreading like a virus. Where multiculturalism has destroyed the native culture, Islam finds fertile ground to plant its own culture and establish Sharia law. Where morals and values have been corrupted and disposed of by the left, Islam establishes its own morals and values. Therefore, European nations that were once clearly identified with the West are now victims of their own arrogance and are beginning to resemble nations of the Middle East more and more. The greater the strength of Marxism/socialism in a nation the swifter that nation has succumbed to Islam because the leftist ideology is a social corrosive and acts by destroying the national will and culture. This is why politicians such as Geert Wilders and Ayaan Hirsi Ali have been ostracized and hunted by Islam.

In short, we are losing. The fight against terrorism is in reality a fight against the ideology of the Nazis. The left loves to place that label on all that they hate, but truly it is they who richly deserve that moniker. They created, supported, and rooted for it. It is inbred in leftist thought and deed and they truly love it above freedom and above compassion and mercy for others. Yet, like Stalin, they brand everyone else with that mark because nobody wants to hear the opinions of a Nazi. In short, it is pure propaganda of a sort that would make Goebbels envious. Of course, it also helps to be completely ignorant of your own historical roots in such a tyranny as the left most certainly is and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

In order to win, we must be vocal. We must educate others and we must confront the leftist lie everywhere it is found. We must insure that our children are educated in what it means to be free and taught that in order to be free one must be independent and that government must be kept weak in order to prevent its interference in our daily lives. Further, we must support our allies and that means supporting Israel. This is especially so when she acts to defend herself from Islamic extremists who seek to destroy her, but it is hard to do when there is a weakling occupying the Oval Office speaking of hope and change as the world burns.

If America will not lead then we are doomed. All one needs to do is to look at the United Nations to see the corruption that is running rampant across the world and in its wake is left the disease of Islam. As Oriana Fallaci once said, “They have passion,” and that is what is lacking in the West and we had damned well better find some before it is too late.

The Gathering Storm

I don’t want to speak of what happened because there is nothing I could say that has not been said before. What concerns me are the wider implications. The United Nations has turned into a bad joke, the United States is in dire economic and political trouble with porous borders and no inclination toward survival, Islam is going viral the world over, and Europe is in disarray militarily and economically with Portugal, Ireland, Greece, and Spain proving to be a millstone about their collective neck. Additionally, the arrival of Scud Missiles and chemical weapons in Lebanon does not make Israel any safer, especially now that U.S. support is in doubt courtesy of a weak and inept President that makes President Carter look like a powerhouse by comparison. All of this adds up to a perfect storm scenario in regards to the security of the world. All one needs to do is to allow Iran to acquire thermonuclear arms and the fuse is lit.

If the government’s handling of the Gulf crisis is any indication, we are all screwed. This is because the left doesn’t give a rat’s furry hind end about competence because all it cares about is uniformity to leftist doctrine. That leads to making friendly with tyrants, weakening the United States and exposing its citizens to death and destruction, and spending future generations into oblivion in an attempt to collapse the U.S. economy courtesy of Cloward and Piven’s strategy. Unless and until the citizens of this great nation wake up and force the Federal government back into compliance with our will we imperil not only ourselves, but our neighbors as well.

This is one of the most important points I have ever made: Our tax and spend policies greatly weaken (national debt is now 90% of the GDP) the American economy and limits the amount of military action that we can take overseas preventing the application of American influence in world affairs. This I believe is the plan that the left has come up with in order to neutralize our super power status and reduce us to a much lower status on the world’s stage. In essence, we will no longer be able to financially afford military actions abroad. This has dark implications for the Middle East, NATO, Japan, and Australia. Additionally, Red China will be able to project influence and power abroad assuming status as the lone super power with the United States of America effectively becoming a debtor welfare nation. Those are the stakes and that is why Election Day 2010 is so important.

In such a world, Israel cannot expect any assistance from the West and the Arabs will at last have a clear path to their goal of destroying her citizens. The irony would run deep indeed given that the Jews of this nation assisted in bringing these events to pass should this dark future emerge. But that is the cost of a weakened America who cannot afford to launch military operations overseas in defense of the Jewish homeland and with Europe turning toward radical Islam more and more each day, Israel cannot expect relief from that quarter either as evidenced by the world’s reaction to Israel defending herself.

That is what occupies my thoughts.
