Media Blackout

I have chosen to reprint this article from the Patriot Post. The article is authored by Mark Alexander, and I heartily share his conclusions on the state of the media and our social values. It is reprinted in its entirety and I encourage you to subscribe to the Patriot Post to be an informed citizen.

In 1775, John Adams wrote, "There is in human nature a resentment of injury, and indignation against wrong, a love of truth and a veneration of virtue ... if the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice..."

Adams understood that a shared penchant for justice and virtue is essential to liberty, and depends upon the ability of people to discern between right and wrong.
Today, it is evident to every astute social scientist (and most anyone with common sense) that among definable American subcultures the capacity for distinguishing between right and wrong is severely diminished.

The origin of these deteriorating standards for justice and virtue is rooted in the dissolution of the family, and the failure of our places of worship and our schools to instill those values necessary for self-government -- self-government being the foundation of family-government and that being the foundation of social responsibility.

U.S. urban centers, and to a lesser extent suburban and rural areas, are now home to generations of sociopaths who do not value your life, simply because they do not value their own.
Making matters worse, the MSM perpetuates a virtual blackout of news regarding select sociopaths, while trumpeting allegations and speculations of others. This results in a distorted popular understanding of the extent of the social degradation around us.

Three years ago (March 2006), the Leftmedia spent a year relentlessly convicting in the court of public opinion three white Duke University lacrosse players for a "hate crime" -- the alleged gang rape of a black woman named Crystal Gail Mangum. Millions of dollars in defense-lawyer fees later, it turns out that there was no evidence and that Mangum was a liar. The real victims were, in fact, the accused men: David Evans, Reade Seligmann and Colin Finnerty. (All charges were dropped, but there has been no apology yet from 88 Duke professors who jumped on the bandwagon, condemning Evans, Seligmann and Finnerty in an open letter before the first day of their trial.)

Four weeks ago, Barack Hussein Obama interrupted a live media propaganda confab promoting his administration's most critical national initiative (nationalizing health care) in order to accuse a white Cambridge, MA, police officer, James Crowley, of "acting stupidly" for arresting Obama's black friend, Henry Gates. That accusation was followed by similar knee-jerk pronouncements of racism by the black governor of Massachusetts and the black mayor of Cambridge. Under such heavy-handed political and media pressure, all charges against Gates were dropped.

The Gates' story dominated the national media headlines for a couple weeks, until it was determined that the officer's actions were, in fact, justified. Obama attempted to make amends by tossing back a few beers with the Gates and Crowley in the Rose Garden, but BO offered no public apology. (Narcissists do not apologize, they just reinterpret the facts.)

This week, there is a trial underway which is racially charged, but, unless you were reading The Patriot back in 2007, chances are you have not heard of this one since it involves a savage black-on-white crime, rather than MSM feeding frenzy accusations of white-on-black crimes.

I am referring to the brutal torture, mutilation and murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom by four black men in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the event you were not a reader in '07, allow me to recount this horrendous incident ... because you won't see or hear it from any MSM news outlets.

On 6 January 2007, Channon (age 21) and Christopher (age 23) were out for a Saturday dinner date, after which Channon called her mom to report that they were on the way to visit friends. But Channon and Christopher never arrived at their friends' house -- nor returned home.
The next day, the mutilated and burned remains of Chris Newsom were found along a railroad track. Two days later, Channon's mutilated body was recovered from a trash bin.
Channon and Chris were in Channon's Toyota 4-Runner when they were carjacked. They were taken to a nearby house, brutally gang-raped, mutilated and then murdered. They were subjected to lengthy torture in each other's presence.

Newsom was raped, his genitals were cut off, and then taken to the railroad tracks where he was shot execution-style. The perpetrators soaked his body with an accelerant and burned his body.
Christian was kept alive for a while longer, repeatedly raped, mutilated, had cleaning solution poured down her throat in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence, and then stuffed inside a trash can where she suffocated to death.

This appalling attack is more than a case study in sociopathic evil. It is a case study about which stories the MSM headlines and which they do not. Yes, there are some 17,000 murders committed in the U.S. each year, but this double murder was clearly far more barbaric, far more monstrous, than most.

Regrettably, there is nothing new about the racial aspect of this story, which may explain why it was not national news. Although blacks represent just 12 percent of the U.S. population, black perpetrators are convicted by a jury of their peers in more than half of all murder and manslaughter cases. Additionally, per-capita black-on-white crime is far more prevalent than the inverse.

The underlying social factors contributing to such racially unbalanced crime statistics have been delineated by many conservative black leaders and academicians. However, their solutions -- most notably promoting family unity, faith-based programs, better schools and individual responsibility and accountability, contradict leftist political objectives, which seek to maintain black folks' status as wards of the state. (The modern Democrat implementation of a plantation system.)

Charged in the torture/murder of Chanon and Christopher were Eric Boyd, Letalvis Cobbins, Lemaricus Davidson, George Thomas and Vanessa Coleman.
In April 2008, Boyd was convicted in federal court of being an accessory after the fact, but the MSM was too busy fawning over the candidacy of Barack Obama to report that conviction. (Boyd's case is on appeal.)

"One down. Four to go," said Channon's father, Gary Christian. He and Channon's mother, Deena have been present at all the proceedings. "We do this for Channon," said Deena. "We've been through the worst. We and the Newsoms have lost our children. We can endure anything."
This week, the trial of a second defendant, Letalvis Cobbins, is underway, but it's safe to say that the prosecution of this defendant will pass without a satellite news-link truck anywhere in sight.
I draw your attention to this case not only to mourn the murder of this young couple, but also to call attention to a despicable political double standard which includes the MSM's complicity in advancing that standard.

In 1998, three white men in Jasper, Texas, beat a black man, James Byrd, then chained him to the back of a pickup truck and dragged him three miles to his death. Not surprisingly, Byrd's murder received national media attention -- as it should.

Clearly, hate was a motivating factor in the Jasper case, but it was also a motivating factor in Knoxville, though not a "hate crime" as defined by federal law. So, why do white-on-black hate crimes invariably result in a media feeding frenzy, while black-on-white hate crimes receive nary a mention?

What about the double standard when it comes to race-hustling poverty pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (who fabricated the Tawana Brawley rape hoax)? The only difference in racists such as Jackson and Sharpton and those in the KKK is that the latter are not Leftmedia celebs.

To that end, my colleague Walter Williams posited this query: "What have we heard from the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others who rushed to judgment and outrage as they condemned whites in the cases of the 'Jena 6' and Don Imus when he referred to the Rutgers ladies basketball team as 'nappy-headed ho's'? Where were the national news media and public officials? You can bet the rent money that, were the victims black and the perpetrators white, Knoxville would have been inundated with TV crews, with Jackson, Sharpton and other civil rights spokesmen and politicians from both parties condemning racism, possibly blaming it all on George Bush..."

As for the defendants in this case, Knox County has already paid in excess of $350 thousand to prosecute and defend these monsters. Based on the eyewitness account of defendant Vanessa Coleman, the question before Cobbins' jury, and those yet to be empanelled for the other defendants, is not one of guilt or innocence, but guilty of what charges.

Those found guilty will be treated to either life imprisonment, with all entitlements, or life on death row for maybe a couple decades -- all at a cost to taxpayers of more than $100 thousand per year per convict.

Martin Luther King, in his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail, proclaimed, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." The MSM blackout of this crime is a grave injustice.
To the families and friends of Channon and Christopher, we share your grief and will continue this vigil with you until justice is served.

The Consent of The Governed

The politicians in Washington are pissing and moaning about the incivility of the American people. They claim that we are unjustified in our anger and that if we had an ounce of brains in our skull we would agree with them. Bullshit. Despite the feminizing of America there are still those of us who have a spine. If the opposition from concerned citizens is un-American, then what in the nine hells would they call our own founding fathers? Would Washington, Hamilton, Madison, Jay, and Jefferson also be called brutes by the effete left? Do they really despise masculinity and passion so much that they bear nothing but contempt for it? I believe that they do and that today the Sons of Liberty would be branded a terrorist group.

Most recently, Barney Frank said at a town hall, "Which one of you wants to yell next?" (h/t Sweetness and Light) That is not the attitude of a public servant listening to a critique of his job performance by his boss. Frank’s attitude is not unique. Nancy Pelosi as much as called the citizens opposed to government run health care knuckle dragging Nazis and outright said that they were un-American. Over at the Senate, Harry Reid wanted to ban the citizens from the houses of government and complained that they stink. I do not know about you, but it is that kind of attitude that reeks to high heaven.

As the anger of Americans increases secondary to the ranting of an insane government, our cultural landscape is looking more and more like the antebellum South. Only this time it is not slavery that is the issue it is an arrogant, out of control, and drunk with power government. When Washington was offered a crown by a grateful nation he was humble enough to refuse it, but the Lords and Ladies of Washington would rule us as an aristocracy today. They believe that we are dim witted fools in need of their care and compassion and that we would destroy ourselves if not for them. Truly, the hubris of Washington is great.

If you value liberty and the rights of man I urge you to fight the lunatics in Washington D.C. and the White House. Not with bullets, but with ballots. Vote these jackals out of office and show them that they derive the power to govern from us and not from any other source and that the consent can be withdrawn. Truly a tyranny is developing in Washington today and our rights and way of life are at risk. Do not let the usurpations of the government continue to occur and call, write, and email the jackals and let them know that a reckoning is coming on Election Day.

A government that does not fear its citizens is by its very nature a tyranny. There can be no partnership between the citizen and the government. There can only be servant and master. If the people are not the master then they are the slaves. It is precisely because government is comprised of human beings that it cannot be trusted. Humans are fallible and easily corrupted. This is why power must always remain in the hands of the citizen. Our founding fathers knew this and entrusted us with that power. That is the reason for the public education system, so that all of us would have the tools to decide for ourselves what would secure or endanger our liberty. Do not abdicate that responsibility to a nebulous government that will use it against you at its earliest opportunity. Make it known in a firm, clear voice that we can and will withdraw our consent to be governed by the Washington aristocracy if they fail to adhere to our directions and serve the people.

Your very liberty depends upon it.

Holier Than Thou

You know what I hate? I hate sanctimonious people who pretend to be better than others because they care. Recently, President Obama was waxing reminiscent about his dear, old grandmother and her death. Of course the lickspittles in the media went “awwwww” and trumpet his greatness for it, but I recall a different version of what he did to grandma.

During the campaign when his racist minister came under fire at long last, then Senator Obama took his dear, old granny and called her a “typical white” and then threw her under a bus in order to save Jeremiah Wright. It’s funny that you don’t hear about that when President Obama invokes his loving memories of grandma isn’t it? Especially when he’s holding a town hall and speaking about death panels in the health care legislation.

President Obama would have you believe that it just isn’t possible to do such a horrid thing, but if that were so then what did they remove from the bill? Why is it necessary to remove something that isn’t there? Obama lied about ACORN, he lied about jobs loss, and he is lying about this. It is the left, that is what they do and that is what has Americans up in arms. Nice try Mr. President, but I am no member of your fawning entourage of propagandists.

The Federal Government Must Be Weakened

For far too long has the Federal government lorded it over the American people. Having grown too strong, the politicians in Washington now act as if they were our aristocracy. They even have the audacity to chastise the very people from whom they derive the consent to govern. Rather than to submit to the higher authority of the citizen they seek to utilize the press to spread their propaganda, cheat the taxpayer out of his hard earned coin, and to steal away the citizen’s God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We the people are called Nazis by our own public servants and are derided by those in whom we have placed trust to watch the government and warn of impending danger to our liberty. Rather than to carry out their public responsibility, the news media are now sycophants for an arrogant and aristocratic elite who now rule Washington while it belittles those who sent them there to work the will of the people. Never before in my life have I seen the arrogance and disdain displayed by the elitist snobs who now occupy our capital. Only once before in American history have the citizens of this nation faced such sanctimonious and acrid treatment at the hands of a ruler and that was King George.

Today, we face the beginnings of the same usurpations and abuses that were leveled by the monarchy more than two hundred years ago. Americans now face taxation without representation as surely as they did under King George. For what else is it when your elected officials brand you un-American, a Nazi, and attempt to use scare tactics to suppress free speech because they do not want to hear from the people that elected them in order to accomplish their Marxist agenda? Additionally, there is also representation without taxation in that foreign terrorists are treated better than the citizens born within our borders and are given Miranda rights when they are taken off of the field of battle. In short, the government has lost its mind.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Stenny Hoyer, and Barrack Obama have contrived to relieve the American citizens of their constitutional rights. Why does the President seek to create a group of citizens to spy upon their fellows and report such findings to the White House? In short, this tactic is being used because it is a threat that is designed to suppress dissent. If you speak your mind the government will hear about you and place your name in a file for follow up action. The last time that happened, Americans found themselves in prison for speaking against World War I, all courtesy of the secret informant making a call to a government hotline. If you doubt my word, the President who authorized that was Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat, and it was the second time in our nation’s history that dissenters were imprisoned.

Add in the fact that self professed communists are now in jobs as Czars in the President’s cabinet and Acorn and SEIU are writing Federal policy and you begin to understand why this Administration seeks to create emergencies to rush through legislation without it first being read by any Congressman or Senator or scrutinized by the American people. You also begin to understand the government’s interest in Federalizing American business in a time of peace. They are seeking to accomplish a Marxist agenda that is designed to recreate the American government in favor of a socialist or Marxist one.

Government cannot be trusted in the best of times and this government cannot be trusted period. The actions of Congress and the President have placed the Union in jeopardy. Tension in the States has not been this great since the antebellum South. To date, twenty States have passed legislation asserting their sovereignty under the 10th amendment in response to President Obama’s executive fiats and Congress’ attempts to bully the States. Further, several States have informed the Federal government that they will comply with no Federal mandate unless it is supported by the Constitution. Yet the American aristocracy takes no notice of the State’s will as it steamrolls toward Marx.

What are the solutions to the problems of an out of control government that ridicules those it was created to serve while it attempts to subvert your will through propaganda and lies? First, we fire the bastards. Get rid of all of them, Republican and Democrat alike. For far too long have these weasels had their way in Washington. They have become arrogant, reckless, and lazy and they don’t deserve to be there any longer. They see themselves as Lords and Princes and not as servants and it is high time that they be brought down at the ballot box.

Second, we institute term limits to insure that both houses of Congress are cleaned of the dead wood periodically. From too long service comes the arrogance of incumbency and the knowledge necessary to screw the American people in order to feather your own nest. The founding fathers never intended these positions to be held by professional politicians. A Congressman or a Senator was intended to be a part-time job, not a career.

Third, we need to weaken the Federal government. The Federal government was only intended to provide for the common defense, secure interstate and international commerce, and to act as a point of contact for foreign policy. It needs to be returned to its original purpose and all other authorities need to be returned to the States. This is because the State governments are closer to the American people and will represent their interests far better than an all powerful central government who is angling in on terminating the rights of the citizen. The government should fear us, not the other way around.

Fourth, the Senate should be removed from the influence of the electorate and the appointment of the State’s representative returned to the power of the Governors. This will insure that our republic functions as it was designed. The House will remain the representative of the people at large while the Senate remains the representative of the State.

Fifth, a Federal law should be enacted to force the news media to tell only the facts regarding an issue and not the spin, and prohibiting opinion from being passed off as the news. Additionally, there should be criminal penalties for violating the law. This is necessary because the lickspittles in the media are in bed with the politicians and willfully seek to manipulate the will of the people by intentionally holding stories, altering stories, and creating spin in order to accomplish the agenda of that party. Such manipulation in favor of any political party is dangerous and chilling. If Chris “I have a thrill running up my leg” Mathews wishes to continue his sycophantic ranting he will still be able to do so, but under the heading of opinion and not news.

This is what needs to happen if we are to preserve the Union. We, as citizens of a free nation, need to take responsibility for our government and clean up the dire mess we have allowed it to become. The sole strength of the American people is unity. Unity of purpose, unity of the will, unity of belief all conspired to grant us our founding liberties. Without that unity, we are surely lost as a nation and as a people.
