What I find most interesting about our economy today is that we have supplanted one bubble for another. While it is true that the housing bubble burst leading to the current dire economic situation in the United States, it is also true that this has led to worldwide economic troubles. What then, is going to happen when the current bubble bursts? We are trillions of dollars in debt, have printed money that we do not have any way to back, and are continuing to spend like we have massive reserves. Add in the fact that we are massively increasing the size and power of the Federal government in order to institute a national change to a welfare state and the picture completes itself.
If our economic troubles were being looked after by a man of great economic acumen and skill, then one would at least have a reasonable chance of escaping great harm, but President Obama and his administration has more experience dodging taxes than repairing the damage that the Democrats have done to the economy. Years before the housing bubble burst, the Republicans attempted to sound the alarm about Fannie and Freddie, but the hue and cry fell upon deaf ears. Chairman Frank decried the warnings as nothing more than political hype and praised the leadership of Franklin Raines who later went on to advise Barrack Obama about economic issues. The fact that Barney Frank and his assorted stooges were on the dole of Fannie and Freddie was never disclosed by their accomplices in the main stream media. I suppose that the leftist rant about speaking truth to power only applies to the opposition.
When government does its level best and fails one cannot blame the government too much, but when government ignores the danger because it has been paid to be blind to it that is another matter altogether. This is the sin of Barney Frank and his cohorts. That they now seek to pin their malfeasance upon the party that attempted to avoid the economic troubles that we now shoulder is too much. Worse, the fact that Nancy Pelosi torpedoed a 700 billion dollar bailout bill in favor of the Senate bill with 150 billion in mad money is reprehensible. The main stream media said nothing about that either. Had Pelosi been a Republican what would have been the likely headlines do you think?
For over a decade, conservatives have said that the main stream media is biased toward the left and for over a decade the main steam media has denied it. Then we witness the open hostility demonstrated by the media towards citizens that object to the financial enslavement of our children and their descendants and their bias comes into sharp focus. Abandoning all professional pretenses, the media declared these citizens to be racists, to be biologically defective, to possess substandard intelligence, and to be rednecks. They characterized these citizens as nothing short of sub-human. Those who did not partake in the character assassination of the citizen protestors descended into crude sexual humor worthy of a sixth-grader. Such is the state of the main stream media today, businesses that are currently licking their chops waiting for Federal bailout money to subsidize income due to flagging readers and viewers who see them for who they are and what they represent.
The tea parties were the first true examples of bipartisanism in decades. Some of the attendees were Democrats who are disgusted by the actions of their party. Some were Republicans who bore the same feelings. Some were independent voters. But all of them were ridiculed by the media. The freedom of expression is the air that the main steam media breathes each and every day and for them to ridicule others for exercising the same right is a level of hypocrisy not seen before in the United States.
If a simple disregard for the rights and money of others were not enough, the left also does not esteem competence in one’s daily occupation. The Heritage Foundation recently reported that “EPA administrator Lisa Jackson was forced to admit she had not even read the Waxman-Markey carbon taxing bill before her agency released a report claiming the economic impact of cap and trade legislation would be “modest.” Asked how the EPA could produce a report on a bill they hadn’t even read yet, Jackson said: “We had to make assumptions.””
Imagine if Ms. Jackson were in charge of National Health care and were making decisions that would literally affect whether you live or die, would you really want her be making assumptions or dealing with fact? Another jewel in the leftist government is one Secretary of Energy Steven Chu. Secretary Chu once expressed a burning interest in raising the price of gasoline in the United States to over $8.00 a gallon to be on par with Europe. This inspired the following exchange in the House:
REP. CLIFF STEARNS, R-Fla.: Last September you made a statement that somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe, which at the time exceeded $8 a gallon. As Secretary of Energy, will you speak for or against any measures that would raise the price of gasoline?
SEC. CHU: As Secretary of Energy, I think especially now in today’s economic climate it would be completely unwise to want to increase the price of gasoline. And so we are looking forward to reducing the price of transportation in the American family. And this is done by encouraging fuel-efficient cars; this is done by developing alternative forms of fuel like biofuels that can lead to a separate source, an independent source of transportation fuel.
REP. STEARNS: But you can’t honestly believe that you want the American people to pay for gasoline at the prices, the level in Europe?
SEC. CHU: No, we don’t.
REP. STEARNS: No. But somehow, your statement, “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” doesn’t that sound a little bit silly in retrospect for you to say that?
SEC. CHU: Yes.
Silly it may be, but the Obamamessiah was not the President yet was he? Was Secretary Chu lying about his desired price for a gallon of gasoline in order to protect the leftist agenda in Washington? What happened to the leftist ideals that drove that statement in September? Does Secretary Chu remain a dedicated radical? That is the trouble with the left, it has proven time and again that it cannot be trusted.
James Madison said, “"The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." Yet, the leftists in the Federal government seek to impose their will upon the states in defiance of their Governors and legislatures. While you may have heard of Rick Perry, the Governor of Texas, what you have not heard is that legislation asserting State Sovereignty is in the pipeline in twenty states of the union. Not since before the Civil War has this level of discontent been in the American blood stream. I implore my fellow citizens to write and call your elected officials and let them know what you think about their performance in Washington. The politicians there no longer fear the wrath of the American citizens that they were elected to serve and it is high time that they be reminded of their boss’s displeasure.
Let us re-unite as citizens of a noble and caring nation and show those who spit in our face and upon our values the error of their ways.
