The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King

I was perusing Fox news when I came across this article, “Controversy Erupts Over Selection of Chinese Sculptor for Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial” It seems that the self proclaimed followers of Dr. King’s principals have failed to learn his lessons. King’s reputation may have some rough edges such as plagiarism and womanizing, but few are the men who are of ideal character when they ascend to greatness and Martin Luther King was a very great man despite his flaws.

His greatness did not come from dividing the nation, but from attempting to heal and unite his homeland. He had a dream where a man would not be judged by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character and while we have made progress toward that dream, we still have a long way to go. What I mean by that statement is that racism has reared its head once again upon the American landscape and it is not white America who is the culprit, but African Americans who resent that the artist chosen to sculpt Dr. King’s likeness is Chinese and not black.

To illustrate my point, consider this taken from the Fox article, “They keep saying King was for everyone. I keep telling people, 'No, King wasn't for everyone. King was for fairness and justice,"' said Gilbert Young, a black painter from Atlanta who has started a Web site and a petition drive to try to change the project.” I submit that Mr. Young does not understand the message of Dr. King. Mr. Young is quite correct in that Dr. King did stand for justice and equality, but his message does not end there. King’s message was about people. People regardless of their color, creed, or national origin were always the focus of Dr. King and that is the true extent of his vision and the core of his perspective.

Mr. Young goes on to state, "I believe that black artists have the right to interpret ourselves first, if nobody steps up to the plate to do that, then certainly pass it along to someone else.", in the Fox article. I honestly don’t understand this logic. Black artists have been interpreting themselves for hundreds of years in song, paint, literature, and sculpture. I don’t believe that Mr. Young is as concerned about the interpretation of blacks by blacks as he would have us believe. I think that Mr. Young is interested in the money and that he believes that only a black should receive the commission for the sculpture.

If this nation is ever to achieve Dr. King’s dream of unity and equality we must face unpleasant facts about ourselves. Racism does exist in the black community as it does in all the communities of men, but it is regarded as dirty little secret that nobody speaks about in an attempt to maintain the illusion that only whites suffer from this affliction. Unless and until we acknowledge this truth and combat it, the dream of Martin Luther King will never come to pass. We humans are a strange breed. We espouse a belief in Dr. King’s cause while we secretly work to corrupt it.

We corrupt it when we say only a black can interpret Dr. King. We corrupt it when we reject an innocent man in order to make a statement regarding a foreign government we do not like. I think that those opposed to the sculptor would be wise to seriously examine their opposition and to determine the origin of their motivations. I don’t believe that they will like what they find. Martin Luther King was a great American and he had a dream of a united and color blind America. It is a dream worthy of the American people and a goal that should be taken up by this nation until it emerges from the dream state into the reality of truth in the heart of our people. We owe Dr. King at least that much.

When In Doubt, Accuse Them of What You Are Doing

It began with the Clintons in the early nineties. They would initiate a personal attack on an opponent with the intent of destroying his personal career and when he fought back, they would deride him for engaging in the politics of personal destruction. It seems that this lesson was not lost on the left given the following posted on Orcinus recently:

“Showing up at other people's churches -- invading their private property and sacred worship time -- with the intention of disrupting their services is right in line with this larger pattern of intimidation. (Can you imagine a left-wing political group doing something like this to a conservative church? Boundaries, people. They're called boundaries.) It's more evidence of the kind of escalating bully behavior I've been noting.”

While the behavior she describes is indeed despicable, she asks a rather relevant question, can you imagine a left-wing political group doing something like this? Yes, Sara I certainly can. In fact, left-wing political groups invented the type of despicable behavior you are currently upset about. For example:

Seattle Washington – Left-wing political protestor’s stage an insurgency aimed at disrupting the WTO meeting and rendering police services inoperable. Protestors were bussed into Seattle from staging areas after having been educated on police tactics and countermeasures and told how to prevent the civil authority from deploying effective crowd control measures. The left-wing protestors even shielded themselves with their elderly and children to prevent themselves from being gassed. Arson, destruction of private property, and assault of law enforcement personnel were also done as well as disrupting emergency services access to the demonstration area.

Anti-war protestors disrupt the funeral services of military personnel killed in action overseas. Secondary to these actions by left-wing political activists, such funerals must be carried out in secret in order to avoid further emotional distress to already distressed families.

Left-wing political activist abuse of the military is an ongoing problem from the 1960’s, with the most recent examples including spitting in a soldiers face at a New Jersey airport, ambushing and beating a soldier as he was walking along a sidewalk, or even the cold blooded shooting of a member of the Air Force as he was exiting the base.

Left-wing activists used Cindy Sheehan like a tampon and then discard her like yesterdays garbage. These same sensitive, kind, caring people also put Joe Lieberman in black face in order to trip him up in his independent bid to return to the senate after having booted him out of the Democratic Party. They also placed him on his knees before George Bush at the Daily Kos, joking and laughing about the picture until they were forced to take it down due to pressure from Fox news.

Boundaries Sara? Spare me. You people invented this crap and now you are on the receiving end for a change. It isn’t fun is it? Now you know how we feel about it from personal experience. Further, Orcinus even posted that you would not call for toning down the vitriol and hatred of the left until the right did so. If that is not the dumbest thing I have ever heard, I don’t know what is. That is like saying, “I will feed my own infant if my next door neighbor feeds his.”

Why should you refuse to act on moral grounds until someone else does? If the moral is just, then you act regardless of the actions of another. The only reason you would even make a statement like that is so that you can plausibly deny having to turn off your own hatred. That’s right, I said it. You hate the right. In fact, you hate us so much that there will likely never be any type of unity in this nation again. Aside from the hatred that you harbor, you do exactly the same kinds of things to us that you whine about.

I suggest that you first put your own house in order if you are so offended by the right. By the way, that is the second time I have offered you that advice.

And Murrow Wept

What’s worse than a journalist with a political agenda, questionable integrity, and a poisoned pen? Not much, really. As a point of fact, that pretty well describes ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, CNN, and Time and Newsweek. A recent poll suggests that the American people are well aware of this fact with over eighty-five percent of respondents believing that the news is slanted to the left and has a political agenda. The evidence supporting this claim is overwhelmingly obvious. For example, the CBS news story regarding the military service of George W. Bush was a hatchet job from the beginning and CBS couldn’t wait to air it. If that was not bad enough, the document expert that CBS hired to examine the records upon which the story was based was doubtful regarding their authenticity and she advised a hold on the story. CBS overrode her and ran with the story anyway. When CBS was caught reporting a blatant lie it circled the wagons and vigorously defended the story until it finally offered a grudging apology days later.

While some of CBS’s reticence to admit their mistake can be attributed to hubris, the real reason for their resistance to admitting error is that such an admission would have had a harmful effect on the promulgation of their political agenda. Adding insult to injury, CBS elected to keep Dan Rather on for a full year rather than firing him for his part in bringing the story to the public, although CBS did fire some unimportant underlings in order to save face. Today, CBS goes on as if none of this has ever happened and its integrity is second to none.

While the news media may believe that they have the public swindled, they are in fact living on borrowed time. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the ratings. Before Dan Rather bailed out of the CBS Evening News, he had the poorest ratings of any news anchor in the history of TV. Judging by the ratings, people would rather watch the Fresh Prince of Bellaire than switch the channel to Dan Rather. I guess that people would rather watch fiction than have the fiction passed off as truth and fed to them. CBS is not alone in the sinking ratings dilemma. ABC and NBC also are experiencing poor ratings. Did the dolts running the newsroom wake up and change their practices? No. They think that it is not their integrity that is the problem, but it is the American viewer who is resistant to change and too small minded to appreciate what they do to earn a living.

Take Katie Couric’s abysmal ratings for an example of this attitude. During an interview some weeks ago, she was asked about her poor ratings. Katie blamed the public for being resistant to change and unappreciative for her work as a journalist. The truth of course was that her job performance was terrible and the blame lies entirely with her and CBS news, but will she ever say that? Don’t hold your breath.

While deceit is served up to the American public at dinner time each night, I have not spoken of the liberal slant as yet. There are nearly endless examples of such bias, but I shall begin with the decision not to run a story in order to assist a candidate for the Presidency. Yes, you heard me right. The news actively worked against the incumbent and held a news story that would benefit him so that his rival could defeat him. I am, of course, speaking of the race between Bush and Clinton and the news that was withheld from the public was the turn around of the economy. Those who decide what gets reported believed that you did not need to know that the economy was turning around because it might influence you against their candidate. If you remember the election, Bill Clinton was hitting the economy issue hard and an economy turning around might have been the silver bullet for the Bush campaign. Besides, Clinton was too important for the country or so those responsible for the news said. They did report the good economic news after the election, so it’s all good. That allows the liberals to claim that it was the hope inspired by the president elect that turned the economy around rather than anything done by the idiot in the White House.

Aside from manipulating the news to suit their political objectives, they also protect their favored politicians from potentially damaging news stories. They conceal what they can, limit coverage on what they have to report, and only report what they are forced to in order to maintain the illusion of objectivity. As long as Americans don’t look behind the curtain, the illusion is maintained. Compare and contrast the coverage for Mark Foley and William Jefferson. Foley was pilloried by the news for over a month. Jefferson, who has been labeled as the most corrupt politician in history, gets an occasional mention every now and then. The differences between these men are astounding. Foley had questionable email contact with a young, male intern and was a Republican. Jefferson allegedly accepted bribes and perverted our system of government and is a Democrat. Which seems the greater story to you?

The duplicity of the news does not stop there however, what have you heard about Ted Kennedy’s treasonous behavior during Reagan’s presidency? A United States Senator sends a letter to the foreign intelligence service of a rival nation in an effort to undermine the duly elected President of the United States and where is the news coverage? Where are the congressional investigations? What punishment has been meted out? Ted Kennedy did this and yet all I can hear are crickets in the distance. What do you think would have happened if a Republican Senator did the same thing that Kennedy did to a Democrat in the White House? All hell would have broken loose. There would have been nearly nonstop news coverage, congressional hearings, and demonstrations to remove the offender from office. Since Teddy is a Democrat, no worries.

That the news media has no shame goes without saying. The only time they get embarrassed is when they actually get caught in their duplicity and not because ethics have anything to do with it, but because they are temporarily stymied in their political motivations. Further, if the news media actually cared about their integrity do you really think that they would not change? Instead, the news continues to manipulate opinions, manufacture stories, and perform hatchet jobs on their political enemies. Worse, they actually take pride in the fact that they do this.

The news media is a corrupt, lying, manipulating, and politically motivated entity. That is what has prompted so many to turn to alternate sources of reporting in order to get reasonably close to the truth. I personally consult at least three sources outside of the U.S. before I believe a word that they say. Each day that passes the news media becomes more and more irrelevant in the lives of Americans. What does the news media do to stem the tide? Nothing, they carry on business as usual and hide behind their illusion of objectivity while they continue to ignore their responsibility to the public at large.

I have no illusions about a turn around in the news media. Liberals are not known for their adherence to self discipline and ethical behavior and they make up the bulk of any news organization. Right about now you are probably thinking, prove it. Ok, how about political donations made to the Democrats by the vast majority of members of news organizations in direct violation of their employers policies. One female journalist who had her photo taken with a Democrat she wrote a check to was grinning like she had good sense and hanging onto him as if he were her husband. Her reasoning for failing to abide by her employer’s policy and total disregard for ethics? Daddy made me do it. This woman is about thirty years old and she is blaming her father for her personal malfunction of judgment and ethics? That is an excuse I could accept from a six year old, but not from a grown woman. How about the truth? Sorry, I work in the news. However, there is a far more interesting question to be asked. If the policies of the people who pay their wages so that they can earn a living are not important enough to adhere to, what makes you think they give a damn about ethics? The answer is simple, they don’t.

I have heard the news media being referred to as the “drive by media,” but I think that propaganda wing of the DNC is far more accurate and the news media should adopt it. At least that way the news media could finally dispense with the illusion of objectivity and get down to the hard core business of reporting their views. Perhaps Michael Moore could even replace Katie Couric as the anchor for the CBS evening news. In fact, that would release Katie so that she could spend her time working on a new segment called “Why I Hate Conservatives.”

Regardless, I am sick of being played by the news media. I am not the toy of CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR, CNN, Time, and Newsweek. You have wasted the trust that the American people have placed in you and you have utterly failed in your responsibility to the American people. A trust I might add, that was earned by the likes of Walter Winchell, Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, and others who actually had some respect for the journalistic ethics you eschew. Now that you have squandered that trust with your duplicity, you are finished. That is why your ratings are so low and why intelligent Americans no longer believe you. Film at eleven.

Progressive Rants Speak Volumes

The Daily Kos has been recognized as the progressive voice of America by the DNC and that is why the DNC and the Democratic candidates for President have been wooing their votes at the Yearly Kos convention. Recently, there has been news coverage by Fox that Kos is a hate monger and by attending the Yearly Kos, the DNC and its candidates have in fact legitimized hatred. Kos, aware that his site is under national scrutiny has scrambled to get rid of offensive posts that have been left up for as long as one year in an effort to gain some credibility. Regardless, it is still difficult to maintain an even keel on the hatred and rage of progressives. Take these posts regarding the resignation of Karl Rove:

“ There has been a lot of rejoicing over the surprise resignation of Karl Rove, and I get it, but we need a little perspective. This country is being gang-raped by the Bushites. Rove may have slinked away, panting and sweating, but the rest of the train is still there.”

“No I'm not going to talk about all the horrible things Karl Rove has done to this country. We won't talk about all the innocent people killed, the security failures, the demoralized military stretched too thin, worldwide animosity, the decimination of the middle class, the pillaging of the environment, the dummying down of education, the catastrophic state of our declining health care system, or all of Karl Rove's dirty tricks, vindictive rampages, or criminal acts.”

So according to the liberal left Karl Rove is a murderer, a serial rapist, a traitor, and an incompetent. If that is true, then why was he was not arrested long ago? Where are his victims and why are the survivors not suing him to attain justice for his crimes? The truth is that Karl Rove has done nothing wrong, but the liberals still scream for his blood as if he were Hitler or Mussolini. Some may say that the left is merely exaggerating in order to gain attention for their views. I call it what it is, propaganda. The DNC courts these people because they can say what the DNC cannot. The Democrats found out shortly after their 2006 victory that personal attacks carried a heavy political cost. So how do you vent the venom? You get into bed with Kos and hope that he and his never catch on to the fact that they are useful idiots.

That the DNC would use these guys as a distraction for the Republicans is nothing new. Part of their strategy has always been to expend the Republican will on trivialities in order to weaken the party. The recent example of Cindy Sheehan being used as a distraction for the president is only the most recent example. Where the DNC went wrong was in miscalculating the cost of employing Kos. Zealots never forgive their transgressors either real or perceived and I predict that one day Kos will wake up. As for the true agenda of the Democrats, let’s take a look at more Kos posts:

“The populist sentiment in the US is rising and there is a clamor for something to be done. The top 300,000 people earn as much as the bottom 50,000,000. The capital gains and estate tax policies are tending to favor multi-generational transfers of wealth which leads to a semi-permanent plutocratic class.”

“Americans are progressive. In fact, they are down right socialist as long as you call it something other than the "s" word.”

That the Democrats have been steadily moving toward socialism since the twenties is no surprise. This is why they have sought to socialize medicine in whatever guise they thought would pass. If the liberals ever manage to socialize medicine, it will grant them a tremendous victory toward making the U.S. a socialist welfare state. Make no mistake that is the main objective of the liberal democrat and it makes no difference to them if your tax rate is 80% to pay for it. The “tax and spend” democrats of the ‘80’s have not changed and they can’t avoid a chance to put their hand in your pocket. Speaking of the ’80’s, where do the liberals stand on family values? Let’s see what the Kos website has to say:

“In cultural regressive speak, family values are understood to be something that is promoted based on the idea that American families are still easily definable units and that they subscribe to a fixed ideology that frankly does not at all reflect the reality of most working families in America. We legislate as if America were the Cleaver family, not a blended or extended one.”

“My son joined the U. S. Navy after having a really screwed up upbringing due to a really fucked up divorce. We met after the divorce for a short time after my granddaughter was born. He is now deployed some where that I am not allowed to know. WTF Top Secret? WTF??”

Family? You mean a husband, wife, and children right? Unless I had a brain tumor for breakfast this morning, that is an easily definable and recognizable family unit. If the liberals ever succeed in eliminating the most basic element of society, our nation will literally implode. The family is the cornerstone of our nation. Without it you cannot have a neighborhood, a community, a state or a national government. Eliminate it and you have eliminated the very foundation of our society. When the liberal left speaks of family values, I honestly have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Neither do they I suspect. Regardless, in addition to the liberal idea of family values and hatred of conservatives, they also have another value to pass on to their children, rage. Read the following post appearing on Kos:

“Democrats are afraid to Impeach. They're afraid they'll be accused of partisan vengeance. They're afraid they'll look weak if they fail to get enough Impeachment votes in the House or conviction votes in the Senate. They're afraid Americans will resent them spending time on Impeachment instead of passing legislation, and will punish them in 2008. Every one of these political considerations and calculations is driven by FEAR. Every public argument Democrats make against Impeachment resonates with their fear of the potential negative political consequences. Fear-based thinking is pervasive among Congressional Democrats, it has had a destructive impact on the entire Democratic Party ever since the Reagan landslides a generation ago.”

Aside from still being angry about Reagan’s landslides twenty years ago, they still cannot forget that Bush beat Gore and Kerry, hence the call for impeachment for the lawful winner of two presidential elections. Why not focus that anger where it belongs, on you. If you were not such sissies where national security was concerned, then perhaps you would have won an election where the survival of our nation was at stake.

You see, the American people do not trust you to safeguard their persons from foreign aggression. Your draft dodging, anti-war, communist appeasing, military hating asses have never shown any support of national defense, despite the lies that has come out of your mouth to the contrary. For example, the liberal plan to win the war on terror? Surrender. Thank you that is a wonderful plan, no really, wonderful, I have no doubt that our enemies are quaking in their boots. Is it any wonder that you have no credibility on the issue of national security? The last time a Democrat was in the White House our most sensitive nuclear secrets were compromised by the same people who funded his campaign, the red Chinese. How many of your presidential candidates are being funded by foreign interests in violation of Federal law this time?

Be careful how the DNC uses you Kos. You may be the next Cindy Sheehan.

Doc Robert’s Snake Oil

Has there ever been a topic more hyped that that of global warming with the possible exception of eugenics? The news media always hypes it up during the summer and most especially during heat waves, but if global warming were really a problem wouldn’t they talk about it year round? The fact that the climate periodically changes is apparently lost on most people because they have no interest in the history of their world. Where once the Sahara was a lush and fertile region supporting human settlements, it is now a great desert. How is man responsible for that? Was it the burning of wood and oil that created this climatic catastrophe or was it the will of nature?

Some scream about man’s carbon foot print and how driving to work is endangering the ecosystem and how polar bears are going to drown because all of the ice at the North Pole will melt. I figure if man’s carbon foot print is such an evil thing then why do so many politicians and Hollywood elitists pay themselves for ruining the environment and continue to do so as if they had no impact on the release of greenhouse gasses? Isn’t that like the Pope selling redemption to sinners for profit while they continue to sin? Martin Luther saw the error of such indulgences and started the reformation of faith, yet it seems that people never tire of trying to take advantage of such a system.

Another thing that is curious about global warming data is the alarming rate at which it is falsified. For example, 1998 was the hottest year in the past millennium right? Not according to NASA. You see, they have been trying to verify that data for a long time and the man who collected the data has adamantly refused to reveal how he did it. When NASA reverse engineered the process they found a flaw and corrected it, revealing that 1998 was not the hottest year because 1934 has that honor. The question that begs to be asked is how much greenhouse gas emissions were being released then as compared to now? Somehow, I don’t think that anyone will collect that data.

But what of the sun, does it have a role in global warming? According to the latest research study, no. That is the really strange part, because if the sun were absent from the solar system then we would all be frozen solid on a block of ice. There really isn’t another source of heat warm enough to prevent such a thing from happening and yet the sun has no culpability in the warming of the Earth. If that data wasn’t falsified, I’ll kiss your hind parts downtown and give you thirty minutes to draw a crowd. I say this because that study was done to refute the data that the Mars mean temperature has risen just as much as the mean temperature here has. If the sun has no responsibility for such warming then I have to wonder how many people are driving SUVs on Mars.

P.T. Barnum once said that there is a sucker born every minute and global warming has proven him right. The suckers in government, the entertainment industry, and the citizens of the world have fallen for this hokum hook, line, and sinker. Those peddling global warming are the modern version of snake oil salesmen peddling their panaceas to the public for profit and fun. The only difference between Dr. Robert’s Tonic and global warming is the cost. Where the tonic cost one dollar the cost of global warming will run into the billions. Worse, we won’t even have a bottle of some foul smelling concoction to show our great grandchildren when we tell them the story of our stupidity.
